Happy fake Friday!

We get a holiday tomorrow for Aboriginal Justice Day, so today is like Friday … thank God, because even though this was only a three-day work week for me, it was super-stressful for reasons I won’t go into …

On a more positive note, I managed to lose another 1.5 lbs. this week, despite copious amounts of Valentine’s Day cake, cupcakes, cookies, chocolates, and candies. (That brings me to a total loss of 11 lbs., so I met my first 10-lb. goal and also lost 5% of my body weight in 6 weeks). I almost feel guilty like I didn’t deserve to lose it haha. However, I did also try cross-country skiing for the first time ever in my life … I was even more terrible at it than I expected 😦 But I’m glad I had the guts to try something new … I almost backed out 🙂 I know it might not sound like a big deal, but I am actually terrified of sports … I am the most un-athletic, un-coordinated person in the world, and I suck at all sports. But I’m trying to get out of that teenage “I suck at everything” mindset (about time, since I’m 30) and try new things. So even though I was terrible at it, and spent more time on my ass than on my feet, I will try it again sometime soon. I only went for an hour but my thighs were sore for days! So I know it was a good workout. It was embarrassing having the guys help me up all the time because it was really hard for me to get up off the ground, but hopefully with practice I’ll get better at it (and therefore fall down less).

I’m going to spend my weekend volunteering with a girls’ awareness thing, then on Sunday I shall celebrate turning 30. I think this is going to be another week of being naughty and having too many treats … she wrote as she sucked on the Mini Eggs that came in her birthday package sent from home. I hope it doesn’t catch up with me this week either! I have a trip to Hawaii coming up for March break, and I don’t want to be mistaken for a manatee or something on the beach hahaha.

Special K morning shakes

I like Special K cereal, so I decided to try one of the other Special K breakfast products. I have been drinking these for breakfast a couple of mornings a week … I have tried all of the flavours. My overall opinion: they taste really good, kind of like a milkshake. They are reeeeally sweet, which is great for me because I have such a sweet tooth, but it might not be everybody’s cup of tea. I like the vanilla and chocolate best, but I’m not a big fan of the strawberry. They’re not that filling and probably not worth the points on Weight Watchers. You’d be just as well having a glass of chocolate milk I think. But I do like them, and they are great for when you need breakfast in a hurry (when I’m running late). Also on the plus side, they have 12 grams of protein, 35% of your calcium RDA, 30% vitamin B6, plus a bunch of other essential vitamins and minerals. On the downside, 19 grams of sugar (that’s a lot, about the same as an Almond Joy chocolate bar, but only about half the amount of sugar that’s in a can of Coke).
I like to have a variety of choices for my breakfasts (as well as other meals) so I will continue to drink these a couple of mornings a week when I’m short on time. As long as it’s the only thing I’m having for breakfast, the damage is negligible.

I haven’t posted in a while, partly because I was unable to even access my own blog thanks to everything being blocked all the time … anyway … I’m back!
I was also really busy getting my students ready for the science fair, which is thankfully over. Sigh of relief. Soon enough it will be time for March break, and if I can find a dog sitter a glorious vacation awaits me.

In weight news, I am now down 8.5 lbs. in 4 weeks, which I think is great but I was disappointed that my last weigh-in was only down half a pound. I was a bit out of control with my eating though, and I was due for a small loss (or even a gain) after my huge losses of the first three weeks on Weight Watchers. So the fact that I even lost half a pound made me happy. I still have 64 lbs. to go! What a long journey it will be but I won’t give up!
